Adele has revealed her intention to take a significant break from music following her summer performances in Las Vegas and Munich. The Grammy-winning artist shared this news during an interview with German broadcaster ZDF, stating that her creative energy is currently depleted and she has no immediate plans for new music.
“I want a big break after all this, and I think I want to explore other creative avenues for a while,” the 36-year-old singer said. “Interestingly, I don’t even sing at home anymore. How strange is that?”
The British singer, who gained fame with her 2008 hit “Chasing Pavements,” expressed nostalgia for her life before fame, particularly the anonymity it provided. “I think probably being anonymous is what I miss the most,” she noted. “While I appreciate that people enjoy my music, the fame aspect is something I absolutely dislike.”
Successful Residency Despite Challenges
Adele’s representative did not respond to requests for comment. She released her fourth studio album, “30,” in 2021 and initially planned to tour but opted for a residency at Caesars Palace instead. Although she was set to launch the residency in January 2022, she postponed it a day before opening, citing COVID-19 challenges and her artistic needs not being met. She later successfully launched “Weekends With Adele” in November 2022, extending the run twice and performing 90 shows over 45 weekends.
Reflecting on her residency experience, Adele described the emotional connection she feels with her audience. “Even though it’s a manageable crowd size, it’s really been an emotional exchange,” she told ZDF. “I’m sure I’ll feel even more of that after the shows in Munich.”
As she prepares for her upcoming shows in Munich, where the audience size could increase significantly, Adele initially announced the event with just four shows but later added six more due to overwhelming demand.
Future Plans and Personal Life
Before her Las Vegas residency, she had expressed a desire to take a break from music and consider pursuing a degree in English literature or an acting career. Additionally, she has shown interest in expanding her family with her boyfriend, Rich Paul, whom she has referred to as her “husband.” She has also mentioned wanting to give her son Angelo, from her previous marriage to Simon Konecki, a sibling.
While she previously hinted at the possibility of touring again after releasing a follow-up to “30,” she clarified to fans that she is in no rush to start that process.
