The Bat Signal is up: Oswald Cobblepot, better known as the Penguin, is back to terrorize Gotham City. Warner Bros. Discovery has unveiled a new trailer for “The Penguin,” a spinoff series featuring Colin Farrell’s infamous gangster from DC’s “The Batman.”
Set immediately after the events of the 2022 hit film, this eight-episode series follows Cobblepot’s ascent in the Gotham underworld, showcasing his transformation into one of the most feared villains in the Batman universe.
Joining Farrell in the cast are Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, Carmine Falcone’s daughter, Michael Zegen as Carmine’s son Alberto, and Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni, a former top gangster in Gotham. The ensemble also includes Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau, and David H. Holmes.
Production began in March 2023 but was halted in June due to the Hollywood strikes, with filming resuming the week after Thanksgiving.
The sequel to “The Batman,” titled “The Batman: Part II,” has been delayed by a year and is now set to release in theaters on October 2, 2026.
