Rapper Travis Scott was arrested early Thursday morning at the Miami Beach Marina on charges of trespassing and disorderly intoxication, according to Miami-Dade County Jail records.
Scott, whose legal name is Jacques Bermon Webster, was taken into custody at 1:44 a.m. and booked into jail at 4:35 a.m. A $650 bond was posted for the 33-year-old artist, and he was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 8 a.m.
Scott, a prominent figure in hip-hop known for his dynamic live performances, was previously involved in a tragic incident at the Astroworld Festival in 2021, where 10 people died during his set.
The events leading to his arrest began when Scott, on a charter boat, had a dispute with the crew. Police responded to a call about a disturbance and asked Scott to leave. After initially complying, he returned, continued the dispute, and was subsequently arrested.
The arrest affidavit details the incident, noting that officers were called to address a fight on a yacht. They observed Scott yelling and detected a strong smell of alcohol on his breath. Despite being warned to leave, Scott returned, ignored police commands, and caused further disturbance, leading to his arrest.
Scott admitted to drinking alcohol, saying, “It’s Miami,” according to the affidavit. The document also notes that 10 officers used body-worn cameras during the incident.
Scott’s career highlights include his 2018 album Astroworld and the hit single Sicko Mode featuring Drake, both of which earned Grammy nominations. His latest album, UTOPIA, released last year, was also nominated for a Grammy.
In 2021, Scott’s Astroworld Festival became a mass casualty event, resulting in 10 deaths and 300 injuries. Although Scott was not charged, he faced multiple wrongful death lawsuits, which were recently settled.
