Prince Harry to Receive Award at 2024 ESPYS for Invictus Games Contribution

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, will receive the Pat Tillman Award for Service at the 2024 ESPYS. The award honors individuals with a strong connection to sports who have served others, echoing the legacy of former NFL player and U.S. Army Ranger Pat Tillman.

The ESPYS will recognize Harry for creating The Invictus Games, which recently marked its 10th anniversary in London and Abuja, Nigeria. The Invictus Games is an international sporting event for wounded, injured or ill active duty and veteran servicemembers from over 20 countries competing in various sports.

In May, Harry attended an Invictus Games panel discussion and a celebration at St Paul’s Cathedral in London with participating veterans. He later visited Nigeria, meeting the country’s chief of defense staff, attending a reception honoring military families, and touring a military hospital to see injured service members. Duchess Meghan co-hosted a women in leadership event during the trip.

The 2024 ESPYS will air live on ABC on July 11 at 8 p.m. EDT/PDT, hosted by tennis star Serena Williams. In addition to Prince Harry, Steve Gleason will receive the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage, and Dawn Staley the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance.
