According to a recent Billboard ranking, Nicki Minaj reigns as the foremost female rapper in the industry, surpassing competitors like Megan Thee Stallion and Sexyy Red.
Billboard’s assessment, released on Monday (June 5), evaluated the performance of ten leading women in rap during what they deemed as “the first six months of 2024,” although only five months had transpired. Criteria for the ranking included factors such as record quality, chart success, cultural impact, business ventures, partnerships, and touring achievements. A comprehensive review of the data is scheduled for December before finalizing the 2024 winner.
Securing the top spot is Minaj, credited in part due to the success of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour and the accompanying album. Following closely behind in the top three are Sexyy at No. 2 and Meg at No. 3.
The rest of the top 10, listed from 10 to four, comprises Flo Milli, JT, Latto, Cardi B, GloRilla, Ice Spice, and Doja Cat.
Minaj recently announced the dates for the second North American leg of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. After teasing the additional stops by revealing the cities, she disclosed 22 more performances via an Instagram post on May 29. The tour is set to commence in September in Philadelphia, covering major cities across the United States before concluding in Queens in October.
Notably, Minaj’s prior tour leg did not include an official stop in Los Angeles, as her performance at Rolling Loud served as her SoCal date. To make up for it, she’s scheduled back-to-back nights in the City of Angels during this round.
