Megan Thee Stallion‘s highly anticipated album, “MEGAN,” is set to drop in just one week, and she’s building excitement by unveiling the tracklist.
On Friday, June 21, the Houston rapper shared the 18-song tracklist on social media, revealing a mix of versatile guests. Notably, Megan teams up with Grammy-winner Victoria Monét for a moody collaboration titled “Spin.” The album also features a generational blend of Houston’s music scene with UGK. It’s not clear if the track “Paper Together” will feature a solo appearance by Bun B or include posthumous vocals from the late Pimp C, a rapper Megan greatly admires.
Additional collaborations include her Hot Girl Summer tourmate GloRilla, as well as 41’s Kyle Richh and Yuki Chiba. One of the tracks is reminiscent of David Guetta’s 2011 hit “Where Them Girls At,” which featured Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida and peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Previously Released Singles and Album Theme
“MEGAN” includes previously-released singles with a serpentine theme, such as the No. 1 hit “HISS,” “BOA,” and the album’s closing track “COBRA.” Megan describes this album as a “rebirth” following the conclusion of the Tory Lanez shooting case, which resulted in his 10-year prison sentence last August.
In an interview with L’OFFICIEL, Megan explained, “This is music I would like if I wasn’t Megan Thee Stallion. I’m not tapping into other genres; I’m just exploring different sounds. But it’s still very much me. It won’t feel like I went so left. It’ll feel true to me. You’ll almost be like, ‘I wouldn’t have thought she would’ve rapped over that, but this sounds great.’”
