Chelsea Football Club has officially announced the appointment of Enzo Maresca as their new head coach, succeeding Mauricio Pochettino for the upcoming 2024/25 season.
The confirmation came via Chelsea’s official website on Monday, June 3, 2024, following a rigorous selection process. Maresca has inked a five-year deal, tying him to Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2029, with an option for an additional year.
Expressing his excitement about joining the prestigious club, Maresca emphasized his eagerness to work with the talented players and staff to uphold Chelsea’s legacy of success.
Maresca brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having played for various clubs across Europe and coached Manchester City’s Elite Development Squad to the Premier League 2 title during the 2020/21 season. He most recently managed Leicester City, guiding them back to the Premier League after relegation in the 2022/23 season.
His coaching staff includes notable names like former goalkeeper Willy Caballero and Bernardo Cueva, who will oversee the set-piece department. Maresca is set to meet with the players in the first week of July 2024 as they prepare for the upcoming season’s pre-season training.
