Drake Becomes First Artist to Reach 100 Billion Spotify Streams

Drake has made history by becoming the first artist to reach 100 billion streams on Spotify. The milestone was reached on June 18, just two months after reports that he was closing in on the record at 97 billion streams.

Taylor Swift is currently the second-most streamed artist on Spotify with 84.4 billion streams, still significantly behind Drake’s record-breaking achievement.

Pharrell Appears to Respond to Drake Diss

In other news, music producer Pharrell Williams has seemingly responded to Drake in his new song “Double Life,” which is set to be featured on the Despicable Me 4 soundtrack.

The lyrics, “Lie detector time/ Hey, what are you hiding?/ Nothing wrong being private/ Make sure it ain’t wrong,” have been interpreted by fans as a subtle diss towards Drake. This comes amid an ongoing feud between the two artists that dates back to 2018 when Pharrell’s close friend Pusha T engaged in a rap battle with Drake.

However, some fans have argued that the lyrics are more likely referencing the Despicable Me character Gru, rather than being a direct attack on Drake.

Drake Sued Over “Members Only” Merchandise

Additionally, Drake is facing a lawsuit from the clothing brand Members Only over the use of the phrase “Members Only” on his tour merchandise. The fashion company, JR Apparel World LLC, has accused Drake’s Away From Home Touring Inc. of infringing on their trademark.

While the phrase “Members Only” is also the title of a song on Drake’s recent album For All The Dogs, the brand’s owners argue that this does not give him the right to use it on apparel items. They claim the use of the phrase is likely to cause consumer confusion and distort their brand’s status as a “famous household name.”

Drake has yet to publicly comment on the lawsuit.
