Over the past two years, Chelsea have spent over £200m on a pair of midfielders they hope will be the foundation of the team for the next decade. They have also brought in other young midfielders like Roméo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu for significant fees.
Adding another specialist midfielder to satisfy the current head coach’s tactical preferences seems at odds with Chelsea’s long-term plans. No formal offer has been made yet, and with three years left on his Leicester contract, Dewsbury-Hall would likely command a substantial transfer fee. Last year, he was rumored to be valued at £30m, and his excellent season helping Leicester win promotion to the Premier League has likely increased his price tag.
