Bugatti has unveiled its latest creation, the Tourbillon, a plug-in hybrid hypercar boasting an impressive 1,800 horsepower. Priced at $4 million, it succeeds the Chiron, which had a price tag of $3.3 million and 1,500 horsepower.
The Tourbillon features a naturally aspirated 8.3-liter V16 engine, co-developed with Cosworth, producing 1,000 horsepower. Additionally, three electric motors—two at the front and one at the rear—contribute another 800 horsepower. Consequently, this combined output makes the Tourbillon one of the world’s most powerful production cars.
Inside, the Tourbillon evokes the spirit of mechanical watches. The instrument cluster resembles a mechanical watch dial, while the central speedometer display features two needles akin to clock hands. The long hand indicates the car’s speed, and the short hand registers the engine’s revolutions per minute.
The Tourbillon offers an estimated electric range of 37 miles on a fully charged battery. Drivers can choose to run the gas engine continuously. The car accelerates from 0-62 mph in just 2.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 236 mph.
Bugatti plans to produce only 250 units of the Tourbillon, starting at $4 million, making it one of the world’s most expensive production cars.
Ultimately, the Bugatti Tourbillon exemplifies the company’s dedication to creating unique and powerful vehicles that reflect the spirit of mechanical watches. Its impressive powertrain and stunning interior design ensure its appeal to car enthusiasts and collectors alike.
