According to public records viewed by the outlet, the musical duo legally wed in December, although they have not held a public ceremony yet. Plans for a future celebration seem to be in the works.
While many details remain unknown, TMZ reported that Ashanti and Nelly exchanged vows in St. Louis County on December 27, 2023. This private ceremony occurred just weeks after Ashanti, 43, announced her pregnancy with their first child.
In early December, it was first reported that Ashanti was expecting her first child with Nelly, 49. She confirmed her pregnancy and engagement in an interview with Essence in April. “This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation,” she shared. “Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience.”
Ashanti also announced her pregnancy on Instagram, frequently showcasing her maternity looks. In one stunning maternity photoshoot, she displayed her baby bump in a gold bikini against a breathtaking ocean backdrop.
The baby will be Ashanti’s first child, while Nelly has two children from previous relationships. Ashanti and Nelly originally dated from 2003 to 2013 after meeting at the Grammy Awards.
