Next Stop: Tiwa Savage’s ‘Water and Garri’ Hits Nigerian Theaters After US Debut

Tiwa Savage, the acclaimed Afrobeat sensation, is set to unveil her film “Water and Garri” in Nigeria after a successful premiere in New York. The songstress, expressing gratitude on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, to fans who attended the US debut of her inaugural movie, revealed that the film’s title is inspired by one of her own tracks.

The upcoming premiere in Lagos has garnered significant attention, with Savage expressing appreciation for the collaboration with the Vice President’s office for the event. She also extended thanks to the Special Assistant to the President on Digital and Creative Economy and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for their support in organizing the screening.

Sharing glimpses of her attire for the occasion, Savage conveyed her excitement for the Lagos premiere, stating, “New York you owe me nothing.” Her post also addressed reactions from her mother regarding a scene in the movie, which has added to the anticipation surrounding its release in Nigeria.
