Microsoft Edge will soon introduce real-time video translation for platforms like YouTube, LinkedIn, Coursera, and more. Announced at this year’s Build event, the new AI-powered feature will enable live translation of spoken content through dubbing and subtitles as users watch.
Initially, the feature supports translating Spanish into English and English into German, Hindi, Italian, Russian, and Spanish. This innovation not only allows users to watch videos in their native language but also enhances accessibility for the deaf and hard of hearing.
Additionally, Edge will provide real-time translation for videos on news sites such as Reuters, CNBC, and Bloomberg. Microsoft plans to expand the number of languages and supported websites in the future.
This new feature adds to the suite of AI capabilities in Edge, integrated with Copilot. Edge already offers video summaries on YouTube but currently relies on the video’s transcript to generate these summaries.
