Meta is experimenting with cross-posting features between Instagram and Threads, aiming to enhance user engagement. This new feature allows users to share photos from Instagram directly to Threads. The company has confirmed this trial after it was noticed by some Threads users.
According to Meta, this cross-posting feature is optional, giving users the choice to automatically share all new photo posts to Threads. Users involved in the test can adjust these settings within the Instagram app.
In addition to this feature, Meta has been testing various strategies to expand Threads’ user base, which currently stands at 150 million users. These efforts include experimenting with cross-posts from Facebook to Threads and promoting Threads posts in Facebook and Instagram feeds, regardless of whether users are active on the Threads app. Meta is also incentivizing creators to increase their activity on Threads by offering bonuses for high-performing posts.
