Kylian Mbappe clinched the prestigious title of France’s player of the year at the UNFP Trophies gala, marking his fifth consecutive win in this category. The 25-year-old PSG forward has had a remarkable season, netting a total of 44 goals across all competitions. During the awards ceremony held in Paris, Mbappe was recognized as the standout player in Ligue 1, reaffirming his status as one of the league’s top talents.
As his seven-season tenure with Paris Saint-Germain draws to a close, Mbappe’s outstanding contributions on the field have not gone unnoticed. Confirming his departure from PSG at the end of the season, Mbappe is expected to join Real Madrid. His final home game for PSG saw him scoring in a 3-1 defeat against Toulouse, bringing his tally to 27 goals in Ligue 1 alone, outshining his closest competitor by eight goals. Despite his impending move, Mbappe’s focus remains sharp as PSG still has two Ligue 1 matches to play, along with the French Cup final against Lyon on May 25.
Mbappe’s stellar performance earned him the accolade, triumphing over notable nominees such as Ousmane Dembele and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Meanwhile, PSG’s dominance in French football was further underscored with Warren Zaire-Emery and Gianluigi Donnarumma securing the titles of young player of the season and best goalkeeper, respectively. Additionally, Eric Roy of Brest was honored as coach of the year for guiding the modest club to European qualification for the first time in their history.
