Eminem has extended the unveiling of his upcoming album by penning an obituary for his fictional alter ego, Slim Shady.
Accompanied by an image of Eminem sporting a hockey mask, the concise article reflects on Shady’s journey: “Fans ‘will never forget’ controversial rapper. A product of Detroit who emerged as a disruptive force in the thriving underground rap scene of the late 1990s, Shady gained prominence in 1999 with his wildly eccentric single ‘My Name Is,’ and its visually striking music video, which introduced the young artist and his lyrics to a broader audience.”

The obituary further muses: “Ultimately, the very traits that defined him became the hallmarks of an existence that met a sudden and tragic end. His intricate and troubled life has concluded, leaving behind a legacy as enigmatic as the character’s departure. May he find peace in the afterlife that eluded him on Earth.”
Eminem announced “The Death of Slim Shady (Coupe De Grâce)” last month, following his appearance at the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit.
A teaser trailer for the album, styled as a true crime show, was unveiled. In the clip, a reporter delves into Eminem’s controversial alter ego, noting: “Through his intricate and often criticized rhymes, the anti-hero Slim Shady garnered numerous adversaries.”
“The Death of Slim Shady (Coupe De Grâce)” marks Eminem’s first studio album in four years, following 2020’s “Music to Be Murdered By.” Additionally, Em released the “Curtain Call 2” compilation in 2022, alongside a deluxe edition of “The Eminem Show” to commemorate its 20th anniversary.
