Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio reports that Chelsea has initiated talks with Napoli and is aiming to settle on a transfer fee between €80 million and €90 million (£68m and £77m). Additionally, Chelsea intends to sweeten the deal by including Lukaku and a promising young talent. Lukaku, who joined Chelsea in 2021 for a club-record fee of £97m, has been on loan in Italy for the past two seasons, performing well at Inter Milan and Roma.
Chelsea’s striking options have been scrutinized this season, with Cole Palmer being the standout performer with 20 goals. Despite a decent return of 15 goals in his debut season, Nicolas Jackson has faced criticism for some high-profile misses. Christopher Nkunku has struggled with injuries, limiting his appearances.
Osimhen has been prolific for Napoli this season, scoring 16 goals. Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel believes Osimhen is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, indicating mutual interest between the player and the club.
