Bayer Leverkusen Sets Record with 48 Matches Unbeaten in All Competitions

Bayer Leverkusen, the German football club, has matched a 59-year-old record by extending its unbeaten streak to 48 games after a resounding 5-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. Notably, Leverkusen demonstrated dominance throughout the match, with five different players contributing to the scoreline – Granit Xhaka, Patrik Schick, Exequiel Palacios, Jeremie Frimpong and Victor Okoh Boniface – in the blowout victory at Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park.

This achievement places Leverkusen alongside Benfica as holders of the longest unbeaten run in top-level matches since the inception of European competition. Leverkusen now looks ahead to the Europa League semifinal second leg against Roma, with the opportunity to surpass this record. Manager Xabi Alonso attributes their success to consistency and continuous improvement. Leverkusen’s remarkable season also includes clinching the Bundesliga title, advancing to the German Cup final, and holding a 2-0 advantage in the Europa League semifinal.

Despite these achievements, Alonso remains focused on maintaining their unbeaten run until the end of the season, with crucial matches on the horizon. Leverkusen’s next challenge is hosting Roma in the UEFA Europa League semifinal, following their 2-0 victory in the first leg in Italy.
