Liverpool Football Club is pleased to announce that Arne Slot will be the new head coach, officially starting on June 1, 2024, pending a work permit.
Slot, 45, will join from Feyenoord, where he has enjoyed notable success over the past three seasons. He will succeed Jürgen Klopp, who is stepping down at the end of the current season.
Highlights of Arne Slot’s Career:
- Feyenoord Success: Slot led Feyenoord to a league title in 2023 and was named Eredivisie Manager of the Year twice.
- Recent Achievements: He guided the team to a KNVB Cup victory in April, defeating NEC Nijmegen 1-0 in the final.
- Previous Role: Before Feyenoord, Slot was the head coach at AZ Alkmaar, where his team was second in the league, trailing Ajax only on goal difference when the 2019-20 season was halted due to COVID-19.
- Playing Career: As a midfielder, Slot played for FC Zwolle, NAC Breda, Sparta Rotterdam, and PEC Zwolle before retiring in 2013.
Future at Liverpool:
Slot will be the first Dutch head coach in Liverpool FC’s history. He will begin his tenure with pre-season training starting in July.
