WEST HAM 1-1 BAYER LEVERKUSEN (1-3 AGG.): Hammers Exits Europa League as Leverkusen Stays Undefeated

West Ham‘s UEFA Europa League journey ended in the quarter-finals with a 3-1 aggregate loss to Bayer Leverkusen. Despite Michail Antonio’s first-half goal, Jeremie Frimpong’s late equalizer secured Leverkusen’s place in the semi-finals. David Moyes’ team fought hard but couldn’t halt the German champions’ unbeaten streak.

West Ham started strong with Antonio’s header from a Jarrod Bowen cross, putting them ahead at 13 minutes. However, Leverkusen recovered in the second half, with Frimpong’s deflected shot securing a 1-1 draw and the aggregate win.

TALKING POINT: WHO CAN BEAT BAYER LEVERKUSEN?

Bayer Leverkusen, led by coach Xabi Alonso, remains on course for a potential treble with their first Bundesliga title already in hand. Next, they face Roma in the semi-finals, aiming to keep their 44-match unbeaten run alive.

Roma will be the next side to try to inflict a meaningful loss on them when they meet in the semi-finals after edging a 1-0 aggregate win over the German side at the same stage of the UEFA Europa League last year. But judging by their ability to cope with pressure in hostile surroundings, Leverkusen will take some stopping this time.
