Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to visit Nigeria next month for discussions related to the Invictus Games, though Meghan is unlikely to accompany Harry on his return trip to the UK.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will travel to Nigeria in May to engage in talks about the Invictus Games. While there, they will participate in cultural activities and meet with service members and their families. This visit will take place after Harry’s solo trip to the UK, which Meghan is not expected to join.
This trip will mark the couple’s first visit to Nigeria together, a country that holds a special significance for Meghan due to her Nigerian ancestry. In an episode of her podcast “Archetypes,” Meghan revealed she is “43% Nigerian” after discovering her heritage through a genealogy test.
Harry’s and Meghan’s visit to Nigeria follows the announcement of Harry’s upcoming trip to London to attend the 10th anniversary celebration of the Invictus Games. He will participate in a Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral on May 8.
Actor Damian Lewis will recite the Invictus poem at St. Paul’s during the service, but it appears Meghan will not be joining Harry for this event. A statement on the Invictus Games’ social media announced the celebration, which will include Prince Harry, actor Damian Lewis, and members of the worldwide Invictus Community.
