Paramount Pictures and Hasbro have announced a new release date for their animated film Transformers One, shifting it back one week to optimize its availability on Imax screens and avoid direct competition. The movie will now debut on September 20, 2024, instead of the previously planned September 13 date.
Alongside the date change, Paramount unveiled the latest trailer for Transformers One, launching it from space in a first-of-its-kind Hollywood event. The launch took place at 6 a.m. PT with a livestreamed countdown, followed by the trailer’s reveal at 125,000 feet above Earth, with voice actors Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry introducing the trailer.
The film features an all-star voice cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and Brian Tyree Henry, among others. It tells the origin story of how sworn foes Optimus Prime and Megatron were once close allies, and how their split ultimately shaped the destiny of their home planet, Cybertron.
Director Josh Cooley (Toy Story 4) leads the project, working with a script penned by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari. The movie is being produced by Paramount Animation and Hasbro in partnership with New Republic Pictures.
In other release date news, Paramount has also shifted the launch of its untitled animated film Aang: The Last Airbender from October 10, 2025, to January 30, 2026.
