Olivier Giroud has reportedly signed with Los Angeles FC on a free transfer, leaving AC Milan for Major League Soccer. The French striker will join the Black and Gold this summer, with his contract running until December 2025. He will earn $3.2 million per year.
Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano confirmed Giroud’s signing, sharing the news just a day after Milan’s defeat to Inter in Serie A. Giroud’s decision to join Los Angeles FC comes after he was linked with moves to other clubs in the U.S., Saudi Arabia, and Europe earlier in the spring.
In his time with Milan, Giroud scored 13 goals and provided eight assists in 30 Serie A matches. The French international is the all-time top scorer for his national team, with 57 goals in 131 appearances.
Giroud is set to play in Euro 2024 in Germany before moving to Los Angeles, where he’ll join his long-time France teammate, Hugo Lloris. Los Angeles FC has been seeking to strengthen its attack, particularly after parting ways with Carlos Vela in 2023.

Giroud’s move to MLS marks his sixth different league in his career, having previously played in France, England, and Italy. His distinguished career includes winning the French title in 2012, three FA Cups with Arsenal, and a Champions League title with Chelsea.
Giroud’s experience and scoring prowess are expected to bolster Los Angeles FC’s attack, particularly with the support of MLS Golden Boot winner Denis Bouanga.
