Everton Midfielder Dele Alli,Aims for Spot in England’s World Cup Squad

Dele Alli, the Everton midfielder says he “can see the light at the end of the tunnel” and has set his sights on representing England at the 2026 World Cup, expressing optimism despite his recent struggles with hip and groin injuries. His determination was highlighted in a candid interview where he opened up about his childhood, mental health battles, and rehabilitation journey.

“Alli remains focused on his goal, with a daily reminder set for the World Cup 2026,” he shared with Sky Sports, undeterred by his absence from the pitch since February 2023. Despite challenges, including a stint in rehab due to a sleeping pill addiction and past trauma, Alli remains resolute in his ambition.

While currently under contract with Everton until the season’s end, Alli aims to return to full training by the campaign’s conclusion. His journey includes a loan spell at Besiktas, cut short by injury, and ongoing rehabilitation, which he views as an opportunity for personal growth.


Reflecting on his past struggles and the support garnered from his interview with Gary Neville, Alli remains determined to overcome obstacles. Despite setbacks, including a recent groin injury, he remains optimistic about his recovery and eventual return to the field, seeing it as a chance for further personal development.
