Nigerian music sensation David Adeleke, known as Davido, is expanding his music career by teaming up with American distribution platform UnitedMasters to launch a new record label called Nine+ Records.
Announced on April 18, 2024, this venture will encompass various music genres, including Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, Latin, and country music. UnitedMasters’ CEO Steve Stoute commended Davido’s business acumen and expressed enthusiasm for their collaboration.
Stoute believes Davido could create a label with the impact of major names like Bad Boy, Death Row, and Cash Money. He also noted that convincing Davido to establish a label was easy, as Davido’s exposure to rap labels of the ’90s and early 2000s influenced his decision.
UnitedMasters offers independent artists high-quality music distribution services, tools to engage with fans directly, and opportunities for collaborations with major global brands like the NBA, Bose, and iHeartRadio.
