FIFA Introduces New Men’s National Teams Competition During International Break
In an official announcement posted on FIFA’s verified account on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, the global football governing body unveiled a fresh tournament for men’s national teams. Named the FIFA Series, this competition will debut during the upcoming international break, scheduled from March 18 to 26, 2024.
The FIFA Series will feature 20 national teams selected from all six of FIFA’s confederations in its inaugural edition. These teams will be divided into five groups, each hosted by different countries, including Algeria, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, and Sri Lanka.
The participating nations have been drawn into groups as follows: Algeria will host Andorra, Bolivia, and South Africa; Azerbaijan will welcome Bulgaria, Mongolia, and Tanzania; Sri Lanka will host Bhutan, Central African Republic, and Papua New Guinea.
In Saudi Arabia, Cape Verde, Cambodia, Equatorial Guinea, and Guyana will compete in one group, while the second group will include Bermuda, Brunei Darussalam, Guinea, and Vanuatu.
