The Nigerian film industry mourns the loss of veteran actor Amaechi Muonagor, who has passed away. Muonagor reportedly succumbed to kidney-related issues, diabetes, and stroke on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
In 2023, Muonagor suffered a stroke, resulting in partial paralysis of his left leg. He underwent weekly dialysis and physiotherapy to address the paralysis caused by the stroke. Tragically, his demise occurred shortly after he made a plea for financial assistance on social media to fund a kidney transplant.
Hailing from Idemili North LGA of Anambra State, Muonagor made a significant impact on Nigerian cinema, appearing in numerous films. He gained widespread recognition for his role as the father of mischievous young boys in the popular ‘Aki and Pawpaw’ series.

Amaechi Muonagor is survived by his wife, Hope Chikodi Muonagor, and their children. His passing has prompted an outpouring of grief from fans. Muonagor’s death follows closely after the loss of another Nollywood comic actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu.
