Former Chelsea Player Geremi Njitap Begins Divorce Proceedings Over Paternity Deception

Geremi Njitap, the former Chelsea footballer, has initiated divorce proceedings after discovering that he had unknowingly raised twins for 12 years who were not his biological children during his marriage. The 45-year-old athlete had been married to Toukam Fotso Laure Verline for over a decade.

According to reports from The UK Sun, court documents from Geremi’s native Cameroon reveal that Toukam’s actions had “destroyed the harmony” of their marriage due to her repeated deception. The documents also indicate that “no children have been born from this union.”

Initially, Toukam claimed that the twins, born in June 2008, were Geremi’s children, which led to their marriage. However, the revelation that the children were from her previous partner shattered the couple’s relationship.

Geremi, who made 109 appearances for Chelsea between 2003 and 2007, scoring four goals, also had a spell with Real Madrid from 1999 to 2003. On the international stage, he was part of the Cameroon national team that clinched the Africa Cup of Nations in 2000 and 2002.
