Nollywood Loses Ethel Aderemi-Ekpe, Star of ‘Basi and Company

Nollywood Icon Ethel Aderemi-Ekpe, known for her role as Segi in the beloved sitcom ‘Basi and Company’, has sadly passed away. The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) confirmed her death via a Facebook post on Monday evening.

Ethel Aderemi-Ekpe, renowned for her portrayal of Segi in the popular Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) series ‘Basi and Company’, has passed away. The news of her demise was revealed by Dr. Shaibu Husseini, the Executive Director of NFVCB, through a Facebook announcement on Monday night.

In his post, Husseini remembered Aderemi-Ekpe as the captivating actress who brought Segi’s character to life in Ken Saro Wiwa’s classic sitcom. He also highlighted her contributions to other notable productions such as Amaka Igwe’s ‘Forever’ and ‘Sons of the Caliphate’. Aderemi-Ekpe reportedly succumbed to cancer in Lagos.

Her passing is deeply felt, with Husseini expressing his personal connection by sharing that his family named his second daughter after her. Ethel Aderemi-Ekpe leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by fans and colleagues alike.
