Funke Akindele’s latest cinematic triumph, ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ has broken barriers by exceeding the N1 billion mark at the box office, making it the first Nollywood film to achieve such a feat.

The film, both produced and directed by Funke Akindele, with co-direction by Adeoluwa Owu, represents a monumental milestone for the Nigerian film industry. This success not only underscores the global appeal of local productions but also showcases the industry’s resilience in the face of international competition.

FilmHouse Group’s CEO, Kene Okwuosa, expressed optimism about the current state of Nigerian cinema, referring to it as a golden era. Despite the formidable challenge posed by international streaming platforms, Okwuosa emphasized that local content continues to thrive, engaging audiences on a grand scale. Funke Akindele’s earlier work, ‘Battle on Buka Street,’ also made waves in 2022, grossing an impressive N650 million at the box office. Together, these achievements highlight the industry’s robust growth and the captivating power of Nigerian films on both national and global stages
