Congratulations are in order for Funke Akindele as her new movie, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’, has broken the record as the first Nollywood film to surpass one billion naira at the box office.
The filmmaker’s production partner on the project, FilmOne Entertainment, announced the milestone in a statement on their Instagram page, accompanied by a heartfelt message congratulating Funke Akindele and the entire cast and crew on their success. The post also highlighted the film’s significance for Nollywood, calling it a “testament to the power of storytelling, cultural pride, and the unyielding spirit of Nollywood.”
With this feat, Funke Akindele has also become the highest-grossing Nollywood director of all time.
