Tyla Tops 2023 Spotify Charts with ‘Water

Afropop sensation Tyla made a significant impact in 2023 when her chart-topping single, ‘Water,’ secured its place as the most streamed afrobeat track on Spotify.

‘Water’ made its debut in July and quickly rose to become the anthem of the year. This captivating and melodic tune also secured a spot on the prestigious Billboard Top Global 200 list. On the popular music streaming platform Spotify, ‘Water’ has amassed an impressive 124 million streams. According to Charts Africa, the top-streamed Afrobeats songs on Spotify in 2023 are as follows:

  3. ‘This Year (Blessings)’ – 84 million streams
  4. ‘Soweto Rmx’ – 75 million streams

  7. ‘City Boys’ – 55 million streams
  8. ‘Amapiano’ – 36 million streams
  9. ‘Party No Dey Stop’ – 33 million streams
  10. ‘Lonely At The Top’ – 33 million streams
  11. ‘Holiday’ – 32 million streams
  12. ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ – 32 million streams
  13. ‘Feel’ – 33 million streams
  14. ‘Gwagwalada’ – 31 million streams
  15. ‘Sability’ – 31 million streams
  16. ‘Reason’ – 29 million streams

In addition to her musical achievements, Tyla has been nominated for the prestigious Best New Artist category at the BET Soul Train Awards. She shares this honor with fellow talented artists Ayra Starr, Ambre, Coco Jones, Flo, Doechii, Wanmor, and Fridayy. Tyla’s meteoric rise with ‘Water’ has also elevated her position on the Billboard Artist 100 chart. Within just two weeks, she climbed from 72 to 58 on this influential list, which tracks artist activity across key music consumption metrics.
