Twelve months ago, Lionel Messi guided Argentina to victory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar, fulfilling his long-standing quest for World Cup glory. Captaining the team in his fifth tournament appearance, Messi solidified his status as one of the greatest footballers of all time by securing Argentina’s first World Cup title in 36 years.
Sotheby’s is set to auction a collection of six jerseys worn by Messi during this historic World Cup campaign. These match-worn jerseys encompass pivotal moments, including the Final, Semi-final, Quarter-final, Round of 16, and two Group Stage matches. The dedicated sale for these white and sky blue Argentina home shirts will be open for bidding from November 30 to December 14. Anticipated to be the most valuable sports memorabilia collection ever auctioned, the set is projected to fetch over $10 million USD.
