Lionel Messi Donates World Cup Jersey to Rare Impact Fund for Mental Health Cause

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has agreed to part with one of the tops he wore at the 2022 World Cup. Messi helped Argentina achieve ultimate glory at that tournament in Qatar, enabling him to complete a remarkable medal collection and solidify his standing among the all-time greats.

The shirt in question has been donated to the Rare Impact Fund, with the money raised from its sale set to support mental health access and education for young people all over the world. Gomez will host a fundraising event titled ‘A Night of Radiance and Reflection’ on Wednesday, with suggestions that Messi could attend.

Bidding for Messi’s available jersey started at $1,000. Unsurprisingly, interest in this much sought-after piece of memorabilia has quickly grown, and it is currently at a bid of $6,500. Experts expect this price to continue rising, with the lot being considered “priceless.”

Gomez has already crossed paths with South American superstar Messi once in 2023. On September 4, the 31-year-old singer and actress was among the A-list guests who attended Inter Miami’s MLS clash with LAFC in California, and a video of her reaction to a save that prevented Messi from scoring went viral.
