Lagos State Government Prepares to Unveil the $100 Million Lagos Film City

 

The Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration stands on the brink of a significant achievement as it prepares to break ground on the Lagos Film City, a flagship Legacy Project. This groundbreaking event, with an estimated cost of $100 million, is scheduled for Wednesday and will take place in Ikosi Ejinrin, Lagos East Senatorial District.

The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, announced this exciting development over the weekend. The approval for the groundbreaking marks the start of an era where Lagos will experience a flurry of ambitious projects during Mr. Sanwo-Olu’s second term in office.

The Lagos Film City, an ambitious endeavor aiming to become the largest of its kind in Africa, will sit on an expansive 100-hectare parcel of land. This project holds the promise of invigorating the creative industry, offering employment opportunities for numerous young individuals. Financing for this venture will be facilitated through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

The vision for Lagos Film City is as an all-encompassing destination, fostering a thriving ecosystem for film, entertainment, and production. With cutting-edge sound stages, top-tier post-production facilities, meticulously crafted movie sets, educational institutions, and a modern theme park, this initiative aspires to be transformative. Its goal is to nurture talent development, promote collaboration, and connect people worldwide through the arts, generating opportunities and driving economic growth on a national scale. In tandem with creative training partnerships with organizations such as EbonyLife Academy, Delyork, and Ogidi Studios, the Lagos Film City project ensures that Lagos State remains a prominent player in the global entertainment and creative industry.
