Nigerian hip-hop artist Blaqbonez has unveiled his highly anticipated fourth studio album, entitled “Emeka Must Shine.” This expansive album, comprising fourteen tracks, serves as a vivid canvas depicting his life and personal experiences, skillfully blending a variety of hip-hop elements. What sets this album apart is its array of collaborations with industry luminaries like Ludacris, Odumodublvck, Zlatan, and more, infusing depth and diversity into this musical endeavor.
Blaqbonez describes his approach to creating this album, saying, “Every time I work on a project, I sort of create a different persona. For instance, my first album, ‘Bad Boy Black’ in 2018, represented one persona. Then came ‘Mr. Bombastic’ in 2019, which embodied a reggaetón-style artist. ‘Emeka the Stallion’ had a touch of reggaetón influence, but with a playful, clean voice. And in 2022, ‘Young Preacher’ merged elements from ‘Emeka the Stallion’ and the rapping ‘Bad Boy Black.'”
With “Emeka Must Shine” in 2023, Blaqbonez skillfully unites all these sonic personalities, crafting an album rooted in celebration. He elaborates, “This particular album encompasses all of them but within each individual track. It’s a party, a fusion of every version of me in every single song. This album embodies pure joy. When you’re having a late night out, you don’t want to dwell on your struggles or worries; you want to revel in life’s beautiful aspects. It’s about cars, money, women – just having an amazing time. From start to finish, it’s one big celebration.”
