In what seems like a rare move, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has returned some music rights to artistes and songwriters who were signed to his music label, instead of cashing in on them.
It is stated that Diddy is doing this ahead of the music label’s 30th anniversary and his own upcoming album release, a notable move after he has faced years of criticism that he didn’t treat artistes fairly.
According to a source who spoke with Forbes, instead of selling Bad Boy Records’ catalog to interested candidates, Diddy decided to reassign the publishing rights to the labels’ artistes and songwriters, including the likes of Faith Evans, the estate of the late Notorious B.I.G. and Mase, who has called him out severally for allegedly not paying him for his work.
