MHD vehemently denied being present at the scene of the crime, but evidence pointed to his involvement. A local resident recorded the attack from their window, and the Mercedes involved was traced back to the rapper. Witnesses also identified him based on his distinctive haircut and clothing.
In his final statement to the court, MHD maintained his innocence, stating, “From the beginning, I have maintained my innocence in this case and I will continue to maintain my innocence,” as reported by AFP news agency.
Apart from MHD, five other defendants were convicted and received sentences ranging from 10 to 18 years, while three individuals were acquitted.
MHD, a prominent figure in the French music scene, is known for his unique fusion of trap music with West African influences, a genre he has dubbed “Afro Trap.”
