The Incident that caused Lauren James’ dismissal

In the heat of the moment, England star player, Lauren James intentionally stepped on Michelle Alozie of Nigeria in the 87 minute of the game which resulted in Lauren’s dismissal from the game after she was given a red card.

The England star was initially given a yellow card for stomping on Alozie, which seemed to be a purposeful act. After the VAR’s review, the penalty was increased to a red card.

This means that James will miss England’s following match, a quarterfinal match against Colombia on Saturday in Sydney, England will have to play the remainder of the game without their key player.

On Tuesday, Alozie on her Twitter page expresses her admiration for James despite the situation.

“We are performing on a global stage. This game is one of passion, insurmountable emotions, and moments. all my respect for Lauren James,” Alozie wrote.

James tweeted her regrets in response, saying: “All my love and respect to you. I am sorry for what happened.

With three goals and three assists, Lauren James was one of England’s stars for the games. Due to the red card, the 21-year-old will miss England’s subsequent three games.
