World sprint icon, Tobi Amusan, tops the 100m women’s hurdles at the Silesia Diamond League as she set the new meeting record to 12.34 seconds…
The 26- year-old sprinter in the thrilling race broke the previous record of Camacho-Quinn the victor from the last year, by seven points.
The winner of the Common Wealth Games set the new record after overtaking American Kendra Harrison, who came in second at 12.3 seconds, and US Champion Nia Ali, who finished third at 12.38 seconds.
This came after the sprinter claimed her maiden diamond league victory in Stockholm’s Olympic Stadium earlier in the month, marking her second straight victory in the Diamond League this season.
As recorded earlier this month, the Nigerian splinter finished third place behind Olympic Champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, who ran 12.45 seconds, and US Tia Jones in 12.44 seconds and 12.42s in the 2023 Golden Spikes Meet in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
She had a splendid run for the year 2022 in her thrilling performances at the Common Wealth Games, Diamond Leagues, and World Athletics Championship and became the first Nigerian world champion after she clocked a wind-aided 12.06 seconds — ineligible as a world record because of +2.5 meters per second strong wind.
Earlier this year, Amusan was nominated for the 2023 Laureus World Breakthrough of the Award in February.
With this Golden Diamond League title, The Nigeria sprinter shows her gradual improvement as she pushes her way to the top.
Amusan words “it was not easy for me with injuries in my hamstring and knee. But I trusted in my coach and my work. It’s all about the process. I just won this in smooth style, I was just running. Honestly, I had no idea that I won when I crossed the finish line.”
The world record holder shares on her Facebook page that she will compete in Nigeria National Trials for the first time after her world record in Oregon last season.

Also, the sprinters will be preparing for the upcoming World Athletes Championship in Budapest this year.
