FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized that football has a unique power to bring people together and evoke joy, excitement, and passion. In a significant step, FIFA will directly pay players for the first time, with increased amounts for each stage of the tournament, including overall prize money that has risen substantially. Captains will be allowed to wear armbands to promote the partnered campaigns during the matches.
