Fuel Subsidy: NLC Avoid FG Meeting, Electricity Workers Back Strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress refused to attend a meeting convened by the Federal Government on Sunday to discuss the elimination of subsidies and the subsequent increase in petrol pump prices across the country.

The union stressed that no conversation with government representatives would take place unless a legitimate team was formed.

However, officials from the Trade Union Congress attended the meeting, which was a follow-up to last week’s negotiations with the NLC at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, which ended in a standstill.

This comes as electrical workers have pledged to join the strike and bring the country to a halt in protest of the Bola Tinubu administration’s elimination of fuel subsidies.
