Actor Cuba Gooding Jr. has reached a settlement with a woman who sued him for six million dollars on an accusation that he r@p#d her in a New York City hotel a decade ago.
The agreement came minutes before jury selection was set to begin in a New York federal court, as a calendar entry in the official court record said: “TRIAL OFF.” It added: “Reason for cancellation (on consent): the parties have resolved the matter.”
This last-minute deal means the Oscar-winning ‘Jerry Maguire star will avoid having details of the alleged assault aired in court, while his accuser will not be forced to reveal her identity.
The woman sought six million dollars in damages in her lawsuit, filed in 2020 where she alleged that they met at a restaurant in Manhattan after which Gooding persuaded her to join him at the Mercer Hotel in the Soho section of Manhattan and stop at his room so he could change clothing and ended up raping her in August 2013.
