Additionally, he will be pitted against notable contenders like Asap Rocky, Dave Free & Kendrick Lamar, and Director X in the Video Director of the Year category for his exceptional work on the visually captivating music video for his mega-hit single “last last.”
The Grammy Award Winner, often referred to as the “African giant,” garners two more nominations in the Viewer’s Choice category for the song “last last” and the Best International Act category.
Another talented artist, Tems, who has also achieved Grammy success, follows closely with three nominations, including the esteemed Best Female R&B/Pop Artist category.
Furthermore, Tems secures two collaborative nominations with Future and Drake for their joint effort on the track “wait for you,” which has been recognized in the Best Collaboration and Viewer’s Choice categories.
Emerging stars Asake and Ayra Starr receive one nomination each. Asake will contend in the Viewer’s Choice and Best New International Act categories, while Ayra Starr will face competition from Burna Boy in the Best International Act category.
BET has revealed the nominees for the 2023 BET Awards, and Drake leads the pack with seven nominations. The diverse range of nominees this year represents the abundant creative expression and excellence of the Black community in music, television, film, and sports.
The “BET Awards” ceremony will be broadcast live on BET on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT. This year’s event will also pay tribute to 50 years of Hip Hop, making it a significant night for the culture.
