One year after the infamous Oscar’s slap and the issue still stays brewing, as Chris Rock’s brother, Tony Rock has come out to reveal a different version of events in the aftermath.
In an interview on Big Boy TV, Tony stated that Will Smith did not reach out to Chris to apologize, as he previously claimed in a July 29, 2022 video.
Tony said, “I just thought we were better than that.”
Chris Rock has since shared his side of the story in his Netflix special, ‘Selective Outrage’, and now Tony has even revealed how the incident affected him.
He said, “I didn’t see the slap, because I don’t watch the Oscars.” He further clarified saying, “I don’t support the Oscars, because the Oscars don’t support Black movies.”
Tony Rock explained that he was watching a basketball game on TV when his phone starts going crazy, which made him believe something terrible had happened, and on seeing what had happened he was really shocked.
According to him, watching it was painful, not only because Chris is his brother, but because he had considered Will a friend for decades.
Just so you know, Tony Rock who is an actor/comedian worked in the family comedy, All of Us, which was co-created by Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith from 2003 to 2007.
