Wizkid and Tems, both Nigerian singers, have been chosen co-winners of the newly formed Afrobeats Artist of the Year category at the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
The ‘Essence’ singers defeated fellow Nigerians Burna Boy, CKay, and Fireboy to win the honor.
Tems also won her second prize of the night at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, which was hosted by Lenny Kravitz.
Her collaboration with Future and Drake, ‘Wait for U’ won the hip-hop song of the year category, as she was also nominated for Best R&B song for her popular track ‘Free Mind’ which she lost to SZA’s ‘I Hate You’.
