Reports that President Muhammadu Buhari gave the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, orders to ignore “court decisions” have been refuted.
On Monday, the president made a statement via his media assistant, Garba Shehu.
He urged the populace to ignore such allegations because the president has never issued orders of this nature.
“The Presidency wishes to respond to some public concerns that President Muhammadu Buhari did not respond to the Supreme Court ruling on the issue of the N500 and N1,000 old currency notes, and states here plainly and clearly that at no time did he instruct the Attorney General and the CBN Governor to disobey any court orders involving the government and other parties,” reads the statement from the presidency.
