Ifeoma Ossai, 33, was detained after police said she fatally shot Monday Surulere Oladele, her 50-year-old landlord, following a brief argument.
The suspect was apprehended as a result of a report made by one Olaleye Taiwo to the Sango Ota divisional headquarters.
According to Taiwo’s allegation to the police, after a confrontation between his brother, Oladele, and one of his tenants over an electrical bill, the tenant in question grabbed Oladele by the manhood and dragged him along.
He claimed that the landlord collapsed and was taken to General Hospital, Ota, where he passed away.
The Police Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi on Tuesday said following the report, the DPO Ota division, Saleh Dahiru, led his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested and taken into custody for investigation.
“On interrogation, the suspect claimed that the deceased asked her to pay for the electricity bill, but she insisted that until water is directly connected to her apartment as promised by the landlord before she packed in she will not pay the electricity or any other utility bill.
“This led to a scuffle between them consequence upon which the suspect grabbed the manhood of the deceased and dragged him with it.
“The deceased subsequently slumped, and he was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty,” Oyeyemi said.
According to Oyeyemi’s report, Police Commissioner Frank Mba ordered the suspect’s immediate transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department’s Murder branch for additional inquiry and assiduous prosecution.
He also shared that the body had been brought to the hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
