American rapper/businessman, Shawn Carter popularly known as Jay-Z has extended his reign as the richest rapper alive, with a net worth of two point five billion dollars.
According to Forbes, the rapper now becomes the thousand two hundred and seventh wealthiest person in the world, while French business magnate Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, currently sits at number one Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton that list with a reported valuation of two hundred and sixteen points one billion dollars.
The outlet notes that even without a tour or album release, Jay-Z has pocketed millions from his champagne and cognac brands.
Just last year, Forbes reported the rapper’s net worth to be one point four billion dollars, the significant boost in the value could be due to the resolution of a months-long legal battle with Barcardi over his D’usse Cognac brand.
Barcadi reportedly acquired a majority stake in the brand, which the outlet noted was reportedly worth about seven hundred and fifty million dollars. Despite the acquisition, the outlet also reported that Jay-Z retained a significant ownership stake in the Cognac brand.
In 2021, the rapper sold his majority state in the music streaming service, Tidal for three hundred and two million dollars to former Twitter co-founder, Jack Dorsey. He then followed up by selling half of his Armand de Brignac champagne brand to LVMH, whose CEO currently holds the number one spot on the billionaire list, for an additional six hundred and forty million dollars.
