After mostly staying mum for nearly a year about being slapped by Will Smith at last year’s Oscars, standup comedian, Chris Rock is apparently prepared to discuss the Oscars incident from his point of view.
An inside source said, “If you were waiting to see Rock on tour address the infamous Will Smith slap situation… the comedian is waiting to spill his humorous take on it on his live Netflix stand-up special.”
The source added that Chris Rock has decided to address it during his second stand-up special for Netflix called “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage” which will stream live from the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore and it airs one week before the Academy Awards that go out March 12.
The comedian will also experience a historic occasion because he will be the first performer to live-stream a performance on the platform.
The live show debuts almost a year to the day after Will Smith smacked Chris Rock on stage for making a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
An insider stated that Rock has been working with veteran comedy writers to ensure his jokes about the slap are solid and funny.
It is also reported that Netflix has added pre and post-show specials to the event, with appearances by Amy Schumer, Jerry Seinfeld, Arsenio Hall, Leslie Jones, David Spade, Dana Carvey, JB Smoove and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
